Hi you guys.

For those of you checking out my site for the first time welcome. But where the hell have you been up to now? Hopefully you have not come on here to find out the ins and outs of being a successful bike rider, as I don’t write too much of the finer details of that kind on here, although I do have my moments, and for those of you already acquainted with robhayles.com and its content, thanks for coming back to check on my progress through the pitfalls of day to day living whether it be on, or off the bike.

On here I will be asking questions like.

If Dyson vacuum cleaners are so good, why can one be found in the bottom of nearly every skip?
Why are all Nissan blue birds still found on British roads all on an 87 D plate? What made this such a good year?
And probably more relevant, but much more boring.

Why, if you where an aero helmet backwards, it makes absolutely bugger all difference in the wind tunnel? Oh how I wish I’d entered the national 25. If that didn’t get me on the front cover of cycling weekly then nothing would.

Rob Hayles CyclingA year has now past since going live on ye olde interweb, and lots of things have happened in my life. The loss of my two World titles have been made up by,
a- the fact that I have become Commonwealth champion.
b- More importantly by the addition to the household of little Madeleine, my first, and judging by her first 4 months, last child. Little Maddie as Vicki and I like to call her has not just brought sleepless nights and constant worries, but great joy and a sense of putting everything else in our lives into a much different order of priority.

Back to the cycling, and for this year I have taken the step to ride this season as an individual. I have ridden in a team 8 out of the last 10 years, for most of those years it’s been good fun, and we’ve won a hell of a lot of races over the years. But after last years JOKE of a team I’ve decided to go it alone. The sponsors we had onboard last year were good, and very enthusiastic. But the management and set up was a complete nightmare and left a very bad taste in the mouth. Not to mention the fact that I never had the motivation to get out there and race. But when I did race, I raced for the team and helped them to numerous victories, none of which I felt was appreciated. So with me being my own boss this year, I can be selfish and race how I like, where I like, and when I like. I have my own sponsors. My own motivation and any problems I have are all my own to, which all adds up to me so far having an absolute riot!

I’m currently in the middle of buying a bigger house. The extra bedroom should come in handy,,, for something. But I now need a bigger cellar due to the fact that my wine collection is growing like mad, which is pretty worrying seeing as the empties bin in the back garden is also growing at an alarming rate. Plus every time I go over to see my bike sponsor Terry Dolan he sends me off with a new bike, just to get rid of me.

I hope you all enjoy the things I have to tell you. If any of you have any questions you would like answering just let me know. If I like your question I might answer it for you. Just don’t ask me things like My favourite eating places or watering holes, as I wont tell you. I don’t want them being ruined by you lot do I.
